Frequently asked questions

What does Drift actually track?
Each session records the intention you wrote, its category, how long you planned and actually focused, and the honest answer you gave at the end (nailed it, got some done, didn't start). Those answers build your follow-through score. Drift does not read your screen or monitor other apps.

Where is my data stored?
On your device. Your intentions, session history, scores, and settings are stored locally on your iPhone; there is no Drift server holding a copy and no cloud sync in this version. Two things do leave the device: (1) optional, pseudonymous usage analytics (event names and coarse numbers such as session length, category, and score — never the text you type), which you can turn off in Settings → About → Share Anonymous Analytics; and (2) purchase receipts, which Apple and RevenueCat process to unlock Drift Pro. If you use Sign in with Apple, that identifier is used only to link your subscription across devices. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.

How do I restore Drift Pro on a new phone?
Open Settings → Subscription → Upgrade, then tap Restore Purchases at the bottom of the Drift Pro screen. Purchases are tied to your Apple Account, so signing in with the same Apple Account restores them at no charge.

How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. On your iPhone open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Drift Focus, or visit apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancelling stops renewal at the end of the current period. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

The lock-screen countdown or Dynamic Island isn't showing.
Live Activities need iOS 16.1 or later and must be enabled for Drift in Settings → Drift Focus → Live Activities. Low Power Mode and Focus modes can also hide them.

Why does Drift ask for Health access?
Only to personalize greetings and insights with your sleep, steps, exercise, and mindful minutes. Access is optional, read-only, and the data stays on your device. You can change it any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Drift Focus.

Notifications are too frequent (or missing).
Drift schedules reminders on-device. Turn them off with the Notifications toggle under Settings → Experience in the app, or in iOS Settings → Notifications → Drift Focus.

How can I delete my data?
Deleting the app removes your sessions, intentions, scores, and app settings from your iPhone. If you used Sign in with Apple, tap Sign Out in Settings → Account first so the sign-in details kept in your device Keychain are cleared too, and you can revoke Drift under iOS Settings → your name → Sign in with Apple. Turning off Share Anonymous Analytics stops future events and discards the random identifier, though events already delivered are retained for the period described in the Privacy Policy. Purchase records stay with your Apple Account (that's what lets you restore Drift Pro later). To remove your address from the driftfocus.com waitlist, email us and we'll delete it.
